What it means

The API key is read-only, and this request would create, change or cancel something. Reads still work with that key.

Common causes

  • The key was issued with the read-only setting, for example to hand to an AI agent or a dashboard that must not move money.
  • A POST, PATCH, PUT or DELETE call (creating a delivery, a quote, a store, a withdrawal, resending an event or sending a test webhook) was made with it.

What to do

  • Use a key that was not issued as read-only for calls that create, change or cancel anything.
  • A key’s read-only setting is chosen when it is issued and cannot be changed afterwards. Issue another key in the partner dashboard for the access you need.
  • Keep using the read-only key for GET calls, such as reading deliveries, balances and the request logs.
Every error response carries an error.request_id. Quote it if you write to support, and read Debugging your integration to look the call up yourself. All errors
